Myanmar hosts the ASEAN 63rd Meeting of the COST Print E-mail

NAY PYI TAW, MYANMAR- Leaders, Delegates, and Representatives from the region are now holding the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) 63rd Meeting of the Committee on Science and Technology (COST) at the Myanmar International Convention Center (MICC) on May 14-18, 2012.

 

 

 

The meeting aims to elect a new Vice-Chairperson, adopt their respective agenda, and appoint members to the Report Drafting committee.

Reports about the highlights of the 20th ASEAN summit, the matters arising from COST-62, the progress of the implementation of the ASEAN Plan of Action on Science and technology (APAST), the status of the ASEAN Science Fund, and the implementation issues of COST Projects are also being conducted.

Progress reports regarding Cooperation with Dialogue and Sectoral Dialogue Partners would also be viewed and assessed.

The meeting is being commenced via brainstorming sessions. Sub-committee meetings and a Special Retreat for COST are done in preparation for the main meeting.

Some of the participants include Dr. Tan Tin Wee of Singapore, Dr. Aye Aye Khine of Myanmar, Dr. Bambang Prasetya of Indonesia, Dr. Jaime Montoya of the Philippines, Dr. Le Tran Binh of Vietnam, Dr. Sourioudong Sundara of Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Dr. Van Nguyen Tuong of Vietnam, Dr. Zohrah Binti Haji Sulaiman of Brunei Darussalam, Mr. Neou Kompheak of Cambodia, and Prof. Dr. Rofina Yasmin Othman of Malaysia.

Capabilities' Survey

ASEAN - NDI is conducting a survey of institutions involved in research and development (R & D), manufacturing, and production of drugs, diagnostics, vaccines, and traditional medicine. Data gathered from this survey will serve as inputs in mapping the capabilities of ASEAN-member countries and in assessing the needs of our region in R & D.

Who should fill out this questionnaire:
The recommended individual is any of, but not limited to, the following: (1) president/dean/ head of the institution; (2) senior research director; (3) head of program or unit conducting research; or (4) a researcher.
